This Privacy Policy describes how the application RuSSell (“we”, “our”, or “the App”) collects, uses, and shares user information. By using RuSSell, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information Collection and Use

a. Personal Data

RuSSell is designed to respect your privacy.

  • No Registration Required: We do not ask you to create an account, nor do we request your name, email address, or phone number to use the App.

b. Data Storage and Synchronization

Your data (added RSS feeds, reading preferences, settings) are stored as follows:

  • Locally: On your device.

  • Via iCloud (Synchronization): By default, the App uses your personal iCloud account to synchronize your data across your Apple devices.

Important regarding iCloud:

  • Data stored on iCloud is managed by Apple and is subject to Apple’s Privacy Policy.

  • We (the developer of RuSSell) have no access, cannot read, and never store on our own servers the data (feeds, articles, settings) that you synchronize via your iCloud account. This data belongs exclusively to you.

  • User Control: You have the option to disable the synchronization of your feeds and/or settings via the App’s options. You can also delete RuSSell data stored on your iCloud at any time through your device’s iCloud Settings.

2. Artificial Intelligence and API Keys

The App integrates features powered by third-party Artificial Intelligence services, specifically Google Gemini and OpenAI (ChatGPT), to provide advanced capabilities (e.g., content summarization, translation, or analysis).

a. API Keys Management

To use these AI features, you may be required to input your personal API Keys.

  • Local Storage Only: Your API Keys are stored exclusively locally on your device within the App’s secure storage (Keychain).

  • No Synchronization: Consistent with your instructions, API Keys are not synchronized via iCloud and are nevertransmitted to our servers or any external server other than the respective AI service provider for authentication purposes.

b. Data Sharing with AI Providers

When you use an AI feature within the App, the specific content you select (such as the text of an article or a prompt) is sent directly from your device to the chosen service provider (Google or OpenAI) to generate a response.

We do not retain, store, or view the data you send to these AI services or the responses received.

3. Technical and Usage Data

To function, the App performs direct requests to the servers of the RSS feeds you have added. These third-party servers may see your IP address, as is the case for any standard web browsing activity.

4. Permissions

The App may request the following permissions to function correctly:

  • Internet Access: Necessary to retrieve and update articles from your RSS feeds and to communicate with AI services (if configured).

  • Storage: Required for importing or exporting your feeds (OPML files).

5. Third-Party Services and Analytics

Apart from the optional AI services mentioned in Section 2, we do not use any third-party tracking, advertising, or behavioral analysis services (such as Google Analytics or Firebase). Your reading habits remain private.

6. Data Security

We place great importance on the security of your data. Since RuSSell stores data primarily on your device, the security of your information also depends on the security of your own phone/device.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
